LeClaire mayor won't drive on I-80 bridge
LeClaire's Mayor Bob Scannell has said that he wouldn't chance driving on the I-80 Mississippi river bridge anymore after the bridge was assessed as being in critical condition.

If it was up to me the I-80 Mississippi river bridge would be totally replaced.

1. I remember when that bridge was built
I grew up in LeClaire and there was a big celebration when it was built in 1966 or so. All the schoolkids, of which I was one, got to go down there and check things out. Rep. Fred Schwengel was there for the dedication. It was sorta cool.
And as far as completely replacing the bridge, the I-74 bridge must be completely replaced and indeed, it will be, but not for at least 2 years. And while that is down, I-80 is an absolutely essential bridge to get from Iowa to Illinois or vice/versa. I live in the QCA to this day and I know. Our bridge situation here is simply brutal.
