Just turned the heat on. Earliest ever for us.
Also did some work on the corn stove this summer. Since I did it I am a bit leery to use it. But I must start it today.
We usually try to wait til November. Usually use the wood fireplace til then.
What is really odd is that the trees are still very, very green.

1. We've had it on for a week or so (on and off)
Those nights in the 30s make it too cold in the house for the little people.

It's been weird - heat at night, turn it off during the day, and the house gets stuffy on days like yesterday - we had to open the windows when we got home. Roller coaster! :)

The wind on Tuesday finally blew around some leaves - otherwise, I concur with rurallib - lots of green still around.

Last year we went to a corn maze in mid October wearing shorts and tank tops - and we still got too hot while outside.
Very different year we've had this year. I can't wait to see what winter brings!

2. We had a ground source heat pump installed this summer.
The AC worked but was not needed this summer. Hope heat $ savings this winter are as good as I have read about. Back yard still looks like hell with 3 100 ft. long dirt piles.
