New blog by former Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party
Gordon Fischer has started a new blog that will be solely about Iowa politics. Fischer was the Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party from 2002-2004. It jsut started this month, so there isn't much there yet. Check it out, it might have some interesting stuff.

1. It seems there are more ghosts on the blog than people
I don't know how much good a new blog is going to be if he's just going to be sabatoged by republicans who don't like him or other democrats (I can't beleive some of the comments have come from the people who have been credited withe the comments).

2. The way he treated progressives at the State Convention last year
was beneath contempt. I guess his is one blog I won't be checking out soon - thanks for the warning.

4. While progressives were caucusing downstairs,
trying to gain viability -(we're talking mostly Dean and Kucinich people along with some Edwards and Kerry progressives trying to boost our numbers)- he allowed votes on progressive issues to take place without us.

Not until we literally marched upstairs and slapped down our ballots at his feet, preparing to walk out, did he stop the process. We were nearly 200 strong, and the rest of the delegates on the main floor (who had been voting) had not realized how many of us there were.

Fischer was obsessed with "party unity"(Kerry-backing) and couldn't have cared less about us - he sent Rules Committee people back and forth, giving us contradictory statements about how we could change out alliances, all the while letting the slightly-less-progressive people upstairs vote down our issues.

Grrr...can you tell I'm still mad?

5. Typical
I heard something close to that happened at the 1st District Convention (I wasn't there - but heard that at the opening of the convention someone got up to say that everyone ought to come together and get behind Kerry) people were upset.

I remember the 2000 convention, then Chair Rob Tully tried to exclude Bradley delegates...THAT didn't last long.

Glad you stuck it out and are still part of the activities! :hi:
