Terry Braindead: I know revitalization
Edited on Fri Feb-26-10 06:12 PM by 47of74
Now Terry Braindead is going on about how he got Iowa out of the recession in the mid 80s.

"I saw a worse situation when I (was elected as governor) in '83 ... That was right at the time Dubuque was going through its difficult times, and they were writing those national magazine articles about, you know, when the last person leaves town, turn off the lights," he said. "But this community and the state of Iowa went through a revitalization."

1. Mm-hmm. And are Dubuquers enjoying
same standard of living as they were before the 80's? If they are like the rest of Iowa, the answer is NO. Try again, Terry, to salvage something positive from the long nightmare of your governorship.

I will say, I don't live in Dubuque, so don't know how things were in the last couple decades before this one. But one of our oldest friends is from there, lived there during that period, but moved to Waterloo about seven years ago so he could earn a living.

One more thing: Dubuque is a lovely, beautiful town with great people - well worth a visit.
