1. They weren't allowed to read the bill.
I'd refuse to vote for any bill that they wouldn't let me read.
These SOBs probably snuck all sorts of despicable language into that bill.

6. Took balls for him to do that I am sure. Right decision though
if that's why he made it.

10. I don't know his reason. Could be he's just a cheap SOB,
but I'd reserve judgment until hearing the rationale.

3. What part of Iowa does he represent?
Can a good democrat defeat him? I wonder how he would feel if congress voted against tornado aid if one hit his district?

4. why would he? Iowa is doing fine.
I mean really, do you think we are in this together, or something?
Every man for himself, unless he is gay, black, poor or sick. Then, well, King follows the Cheney school of empathy and greetings.

7. I pity the poor assclowns that live in Iowa...
I would be screaming at the man...if that is what you can call him. I can't wait until they have a tragedy in the Corn Hole state and we can scream; "you get nothing, and you will like it!" Defective Personality for sure! They raise a lot of Swine in Iowa, don't they?

9. I take offense
I'm sorry, but I didn't appreciate that comment. I have lived in Iowa all my life and, just because one of our elected officials does something you don't like, I don't think you should make that type of comment about our citizens -- Iowans, or citizens of any other state, for that matter, who have an official who does something you don't like.

I'm not an assclown -- what a horrible thing to call us.

My God! What's this country coming to if we are at the point of fighting with each other?

11. Fine, I am flamed...
but the people who send these kind of people to Congress have got to step up and take responsibility for their actions. How can anyone do what that man did today and live with themselves? I hope some of your offense that you have taken transfers into a letter and a phone call to the man. Sorry if I offended you, believe me I am OFFENDED every minute of every day. BTW, welcome to DU, and tougher skin will develop.

12. Thank you
Thank you for your response and apology.

If they were not allowed to read the bill before approving it, I don't blame him. He's not from my district, so I have nothing to do with him being in Washington. However, if that was the reason for not going with the flow, then I'd say he was taking a stand as he should. I can't believe these people think they can push anything through just because they are the majority. They make their own rules and they've pulled enough of those tricks that their own people are watching them. I guarantee you that we haven't even begun to see what's below the tip of their iceberg.

Peace?

13. Absolutely........
and where have you been, we have been waiting for you?? This is the place to be, everything that happens will be at your fingertips, and as it happens. BTW, it doesn't matter if he represents your district, write him anyway.

16. I think King has said before he does not respond to writers
who are out of his district (e-mail and otherwise). This lame policy does not apparently keep him from taking campaign $ from out of the 5th District though.

from Sherrod Brown, 13th District, OH. about my LTTE. He is a dem from the neighboring district, I have a repuke: LaTourette. Each member is going to have to account for the awful things they looked the other way on. 2006...bring em on!

19. So by that logic...
So you are an "ass clown" for allowing Bush to be president? Use your effin head before you spout off at the mouth. No one here voted for the guy.

I don't think its a matter of tough skin, but a matter of respect.

20. What about the people who don't live in the 5th distirct?
And frankly how do you blame the DEMOCRATS in the fifth district?

Seems to me if you don't understand how things like this happen you are acting like the clown (like Democrats got George Bush elected....sheesh)

15. Heard Rushie today for about ten minutes
He was going on and on about how the prez and congress are down in Louisiana (Miss + Ala also) just buying votes. $200,000 per evacuee has been appropriated.
The reason I bring this up is that I just saw that King voted against the $52 billion. Is not reading the bill the real reason or is that just a cover? Unfortunately this doesn't fit a paatern that King has followed. He has voted for many bills that are rushed through or altered after being read on the floor.
King, Latham, Nussle and Grassley are an embarrasment to Iowa. Jim Leach retired about ten years ago, so while not a total embarrassment, he's pretty much useless.
I hope the Dems are rounding up some good candidates. We've got David Loebsack here in the 2nd district. Looks like an interesting fight in the first. Do Latham and King have any opposition brewing? King especially.
