Holy Cow! A gay man is running for city council in my city

In Davenport, Iowa's third ward there is a man by the name of Bill Boom running for city council. The Third Ward is predominantly inner city and the guy who is the current representative is a pretty good Alderman, but from the way it sounds, Boom has a very good chance of winning the election. He really has a desire to clean up the crime problem in his ward and does not want the city to get involved in a land development in a prime part of town, which has been a controversial subject for a few years now. I do not live in his ward, so I can't vote for him, but to tell the truth, I think I would vote for him if he were in my ward. Not because of his sexual orientation, but more because of his ideas and stands on issues. Hope the residents of the third ward feel the same way.
Now I realize that people outside of Davenport may not care at all about this, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Many times, state and federal lawmakers start at the local level. Perhaps it will happen this time too. One more note, I went to a fundraiser for a candidate in my ward, and a guy who is running for Alderman at Large showed up. He was calling Mr. Boom a "faggot". This clown will not get my vote. He tried to unseat an incumbent State Representative last year and failed miserably. He has switched from Democrat to Repub so who needs him anyway.
