Anger, irritation and confusion among Iowa voters escalated Tuesday after thousands of Republicans received new phone messages implying that fraud might occur in the upcoming election.
Ed Failor Jr., executive director of the Republican get-out-the-vote effort called Victory '04, recorded the latest message calling two Democratic-leaning groups "shadowy organizations" and saying that giving them your absentee ballot will "jeopardize your vote."

Failor's message, paid for by the Republican Party of Iowa, did not advocate destroying absentee ballots but warned about groups collecting the ballots.
"Shadowy organizations like ACT and MoveOn.org are working with the Democrats to collect absentee ballots," said the message (emphasis added.) "Do not give your ballot to anyone who is not officially credentialed by the Republican Party of Iowa. . . . Don't let these shadowy organizations jeopardize your vote."

These people are no longer interested in the small-"d" democratic process.
