Have you seen Good Night, and Good Luck ?
It's in Davenport now. I think I'm going this afternoon. How many people were there?

1. I really want to see it
Unfortunately, I'm either going to have to attend an afternoon showing while the kids are in school or wait until it comes out on video. As compelling as I believe this film to be, I still doubt its ability to contain my 3-year-old. :)

If you go, report back and let me know how you like it.

2. Can't see it in Cedar Falls/Waterloo
the closest showings are Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. It isn't playing very many places in Iowa at all. Looking forward to the video, though.

I've decided to take my 12 year old son who shares my interest in progressive politics to Jarhead. Sounds like it will provide some interesting fodder for us for discussion. Maybe in talking with hs friends about it, he'll share his anti-war views with them.

3. Saw it Friday! 2PM show - had about 30 or so in there
Man you guys have high movie prices!
Great show. Applause at the end and a coupls of discussions as the credits rolled.
I highly recommend it. Will probably go again - if it gets closer and cheaper.

4. Saw it, loved it
Theater was about 3/4 full maybe more. There was no applause. One woman giggled a lot, but then there were some great one-liners in it.
At the end, the only comment I heard was "is that it?"
I got a kick out of the interview with Liberace. I can remember seeing that on TV with my parents.

I think maybe the fear the reporters felt was too subtle. I saw Murrow's hands tremble, but I never felt the fear.

5. That interview with Liberace
"are you looking to get married" or some such crap. And the way they danced around his homosexuality. Never once was there a mention of a woman etc. In retrospect it was funny and odd.

6. Posted this on another thread abot GN & GL
Very relevant to what's going on today:

I think the portrayal of Bill Paley walking the line and finally
caving to an extent was very telling. Murrow had won the battle but lost the war to the advertisers, fear of government retribution and complaints from local stations. At the end Murrow is set to do 5 hourlong Sunday afternoon shows and that is the extent of his broadcasting.
So, much as today, when we get an occassional bright spot - we all are excited by Olberman and the once in a while comment by Jack Cafferty or when Tweety seems to wake up - but let's face it, these are small victories for truth in a sea of continual lies timidity by a media scared of advertisers and the government.
