Does anyone here want to talk about the tragic death of Stephen Gleason?
Or just let his memory rest in peace?

1. Sounds tragic...
Unfortunately I don't really know a lot about him. It sounds like he was going through some tough times.

2. He was great, and driven and giving.
I didn't even know him, just know what people have said about him. My husband thought he was a terrific person and a great policy wonk.

Addiction took it all away from him.

That is terrible.

Did anyone here know him? I know we have some 'old school' Dems on this forum.

3. Ok ok I'm an idiot I guess
Who was Stephen Gleason? Was he from the CR area? We really need to clarify things. This is the Iowa forum, not the Cedar Rapids forum.

4. Actually, Bluzmann, I'm in Waterloo - Gleason was Vilsack's Chief of Staff
And many other things throughout the years - including working for Clinton on Health care reform.

Here's the most recent piece from the DMR - but his fall back into addiction and his suicide shortly after that revelation were in all of Iowa's newspapers - front page - including the QC Times.

Sorry to be an ass on this one, but I'm amazed how many of us are just walking away quietly from this story. Addiction killed this man, and before that destroyed his life. His political 'friends' were supportive of him as long as he wasn't using, where were they when he fell? I'm just so damn mad!!!!!
