Denny Heath ads
http://www.dennyheath.com/

I've read that these are running on cable somewhere - I haven't seen them, but the only cable I seem to watch anymore is Pay Per View professional wrestling and the Daily Show/Colbert Report.

So please review Denny's ads and tell us what you think (I've watched two of them and frankly I need someone to explain them to me!!).

d.

1. Where is he getting his $$ from?
We are not aware he has a lucrative position neither do we know of any substantial backers for his decidedly rough-hewn ideas. Tell us if you do not also think he is some kind of Larouche-style interloper and time-waster, personally pleasant though he may be.

2. I'm afraid he may be self-funded or family funded
But since he refuses to participate in the FEC filing-fest (like participation is somehow optional :eyes:) We may never know.

I don't think he's a rabble-rouser (loven that word!), I think he genuinely believes in his cause. I just don't think his cause fits w/the needs of the voters in the First District of Iowa.

3. The dog ad was creative
A couple of the other ones I had to replay a couple times to get, some of them I didn't quite get. I did like the dog ad (http://www.dennyheath.com/dogs.wmv). It was creative, but could use a little more polish.

I never heard of this guy. Did he run in 2002 as a Democrat?

4. I would love to know...
Now you got me all interested. If anyone finds out where he gets his cash from, post it right away.

I did meet this man (I have never heard of him before the debate in Dubuque) at the district convention. He seems nice and personable. But his ideas, well, a little off the wall.

As for his commercials, I agree with pstans. There are certainly a little ruff. Seemed like they almost rushed the production.

5. He ran in a three-way primary in 2002 and received 3% of the vote
in 2004 he ran in a primary vs. Bill Gluba (he ran specifically because Gluba didn't believe in women's reproductive health care rights and Heath felt Democrats should have a choice) he lost the primary - don't remember by how much - (although he won by 50some votes here in Black Hawk County. Heath was convinced that people deserved to have a choice on, well, Choice so he ran as a No Party candidate. I believe he received 1 1/2% in the general. I already stated that I have NO CLUE why he is running again (Braley is the only candidate in the race that believes women are intelligent enough to make their own decisions about reproductive health care and don't need a group of mainly non-medical professional men in Washington D.C. to make that choice for them). I'm 95% certain that was the only reason Heath did as well (if you can say well) in the last primary.

I'm assuming the FEC will be having conversations with him soon enough regarding his ad expenditures. If he can prove that he hasn't spent the (I think) $5,000 that keeps him from having to file w/the FEC, they'll leave him alone. But, I don't know how he can film/produce/place ads on cable - plus making his buttons - and running from event to event and NOT spend $5,000. But, what do I know?
