Bill Gluba Endorses Bruce Braley
I have decided not to run as an independent candidate for Congress because I believe such a campaign could jeopardize the prospects for the Democrats to gain the majority in the U.S. House in 2006. I considered an independent run because, as some of you know, I believe the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) treated my congressional campaign unfairly when I ran both in 2004 and 2006. I say this not to dwell on my grievances, but rather to explain why I even considered taking such a drastic step. I want to now make it clear that my dispute is with the DCCC, not with any of the other Democratic Primary candidates.

I support Bruce Braley’s candidacy for Congress because I believe he shares my basic philosophy of the purpose and priorities of government. I believe Bruce Braley will fight for the rights of working Americans and their families for decent wages, decent schools, clean air and clean water. I believe that Bruce Braley understands that, in the words of Hubert H. Humphrey,:
“The moral test of government is how it treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped”
I support Bruce Braley because in order to turn this country around, the Democrats must take control of Congress. I support Bruce Braley, and ask my supporters to cast their votes for him in November, because the fundamental principles and positions we share are more numerous than the few issues on which we disagree. I look forward to helping Bruce in the coming months in any way I can, and I encourage my supporters to do likewise.
