I won my primary!
773 votes altogether. 100% of the vote, I might add.

Well, okay, I was uncontested, and I'll need several thousand more votes to hope to win the general election, and my opponent is the good-guy Republican incumbent who will be very hard to beat, rather than the right-wing challenger who'd be easy to defeat. But still, 773 people, actually got Democratic ballots in my district and saw my name and pressed the button next to it.

4. congratulations!!
Now go out there and knock on as many doors as you can, talk to civic groups, and run the best you can. Win, lose, or draw you are doing a service for your district and state.

9. Good for you!
This is exciting.

It might be an uphill battle, but we need more Democratic challengers out there. Don't let them run unopposed!

Good going!

11. House District 16.
It includes Oak Park Mall and Johnson County Community College, which means practically everyone in the state knows approximately where it is.

15. Congratulations, neighbor!
Johnson County is still primarily Republican, from what I can see, but we can't stop fighting them. People are getting so much misinformation from the right that we just have to reeducate them, one at a time...

16. I think it's a certain mis-perception
that Johnson County is primarily Republican. Yeah, the official voter registrations are 50% Republican, but I can tell you that as I go knocking on doors, about 20-30% of those are RINO's (Republicans in Name Only)who only register that way so as to be able to vote in the primary, where the only meaningful choice usually takes place.

Since I'm the first Dem in six years to run in this District, I'm finding an amazing number of people happy to see me and willing to vote for me. The other day, a woman literally fell into my arms with joy at the sight of a Democrat running.

Where in OP are you?

17. Oak Park
I'm in the Oak Park area, near the mall. I may misoverestimate the percentage of Republicans around here, just because I have many very conservative family members in the area. ;)

I'm near 103rd and Quivira.

(edited to add that I checked the map, and indeed I am in your district!)

20. You don't seem to have enough
posts yet to send you a PM, or I would give you my phone number and so on that way. Go to the Johnson County Election Board website and locate the list of house candidates to find my name. Give me a call. Or PM me as soon as you have enough messages to do so.

I've been walking the district, and apparently haven't made it to your house yet.

22. I'm not in favor of
concealed carry. As most law officers are not.

I think the Second Amendment is just fine. People are allowed to own guns. I don't think anyone needs automatic weapons for hunting.
