At the Bush 'expo' in Lee's Summit, MO yesterday
my friend's daughter, who is a student at Lee's Summit High School, was escorted out before Bush spoke by Secret Service agents. She made the mistake of sitting next to a girl who was wearing an anti-Bush t-shirt. The SS not only made her exit the stadium, but also told her to leave the school grounds. She and the girl wearing the shirt were made to walk across a busy highway and wait across from the school until Bush was gone. My friend's daughter did NOTHING except sit next to a girl wearing a shirt that had a W with an X through it.

I posted this over on the MO forum, but wanted the KS folks to see it also.

I am just outraged over this. This is a 15 year old girl who just wanted to hear her president speak. It makes me wonder if we are living in the USA in 2004 or Nazi Germany in 1939!!!

I also wonder now how many of those protestors arrested in NYC last week were really protesting and how many just happened to be walking down the same street as a group of protestors. I also will know from now on, every time I see Bush speaking at one of these little campaign events we see daily n TV, just how representative those in attendance are of their local community.

How can anyone support this kind of tyranny and repression???

What a way for a young kid to learn about politics and how nasty they can be.

BTW, this 15 year old girl has now volunteered to work on the Kerry campaign.

:kick: Hey Bush - fuck you!!!

5. In a way
what's wonderful about these kinds of things happening is that it's helping to open people's eyes to the repression that's going on.

In today's Overland Park Sun there were about six letters pointing out to someone who'd complained last week about anti-Kerry protesters being treated badly when Kerry was in town (the Kerry folks shouted them down) that at least they were allowed to attend the rally, not kept half a mile away or escorted out or even arrested as is typical at the Bush events when anti-bush protesters try to attend.

6. I was at that rally for Kerry
and those protestors were obnoxious. The guy dressed up like a big waffle couldn't see where he was going and ran down a couple little kids. And they were chanting some pretty outrageous stuff like "Fuck Kerry". But the SS just stood there and let them protest.

Makes me so proud to be a Democrat, the party of TOLERANCE and FREE SPEECH.

My friend - the girl's mom - was at the Lee's Summit School Board meeting tonight complaining about how her daughter was treated at the Bush rally and she was interviewed by Channel 9. So check out their 10:00 news tonight - in 15 minutes!!!
