Mixing Business and Politics --- Kerry merchandise for sale in Mission
Brent and Steve Scheuerman own a small jewelry store in Mission - an unlikely site for mobilizing thousands of Democratic voters in the metropolitan area.

But in July, the two owners of Southwest Jewels at 5305 Johnson Drive decided to sell paraphernalia in support of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

This decision has drastically changed the Scheuerman's daily routine. The two now devote much of their time to discussing the presidential election with hundreds of new patrons who come to their store each day to purchase pro-Kerry items such as yard signs, bumper stickers, button pins and T-shirts.

Check it out if you're in the area ... it's a great store run by nice people. We've gotten quite a bit of stuff there. ;)

1. thanks
I'd heard about this, but until I read this post today it kept slipping my mind to check it out.

Definitely worth the time. They have a very large assortment of buttons at a reasonable ($1.50) price. Got a free Dennis Moore lawn sign as well.

Thanks again, it was a fun trip.

3. making a list and checking it twice
Making a list of Kerry/Edwards sign protections.

My first choice, which I have promoted here at DU, is rubbing poison ivy all over the signs. That stuff is wicked. :) It's residual effects will contaminate the thief's backseat and trunk for a long time.

Once I get a complete list, I'll run some copies so that the Scheuermans can hand it out to their customers.

By the way, while running errands today, 3 people remarked on my Kerry/Edwards pin. All 3 were in low-paying positions in our rich little suburb, therefore, realized the damage that Dubya has done to the working class.

Love seeing the Kerry/Edwards and Kansans for Kerry signs popping up in my neighborhood. Even saw a "Christians for Kerry" bumpersticker.

Don't be discouraged by all those Koback signs. Moore's office said they won't be distributing signs on a wide basis until October 2nd.

4. Well Moore is going to need
about a jillion signs to counter the Kobach monopoly.

5. And he's going to have them.
Moore is deliberately holding back, and there will be an amazing blossoming of Moore signs in two weeks.

6. I agree. At his request, ours is still lying in wait in the garage! ;)
Hope there are many, many more out there.
