Upcoming KC area events, in no particular order

1. Mopaul's Blues Band will be playing at Jazz at 39th and State Line on Friday, Feb 3 from 7 to 11. We had a large group last month and a great time was had by all. So come and join us for fabulous music and wonderful food!

2. On Thurs, Feb 2, Mopaul will be a featured player at the kkfi-fm harmonica blowout at BB's BBQ at 85th and holmes. Starts around 6ish. Lots of harmonica players; Mopaul says bring your own ear plugs.

3. Evlbstrd has graciously offered to host our March meetup on March 17 at his house in the Westport area. We are planning on potluck. PM Evl or me for the address. More specific details - time, etc will be posted here.

4. Our Feb meetup will most likely be our last at The Flea Market, as they will be closing and turned into a Hooter's. Several of you have asked that we change the date from the 3rd Wed. Let me know what day works best for you and we will set a date. I can do Thursdays but can't get there till 8ish.

5. We have tentatively decided to hold future meetups at The Peanut at 50th and Main. Their wings are THE BEST! It is also an intimate little bar and I think a perfect setting for us. If you aren't familiar with KC, The Peanut is not far from The Flea Market. It is just south (about 3 blocks) from The Plaza.

So mark your calendars!! :hi:

They have protested for 153 straight weeks.

They are not just protesting the war any more, they are going after IMPEACHMENT.

I'm more of a "God these Republicans are morons, I'm glad I'm not as stupid as them, lets have a beer and a cheeseburger and talk about music" kinda liberal.

I'd like to join your demonstration but unfortunately Tuesday night is my night to watch the kids.

But I do drive through...and honk. I usually pass through around 5:30. I'm driving a '65 Chevy that is half copper-colored and half rust, so I'm easy to identify. Perhaps you've seen me? However, my horn is broken and hasn't worked for a couple of weeks, so I'm not able to honk, but I still wave!

Please inform the rest of the group that I have stopped honking due to a broken horn and not because I'm angry or bored.

But I go home that way every Tuesday and I honk and wave the peace sign.

My husband teaches until 6 every Tuesday and doesn't get home much before 6:30, sometimes 7. I sometimes have trouble driving because of my arthritis so I have to rely on someone else (usually Rex or the Admiral) to drive me if I leave town. I'm planning on going to the Douglas County Courthouse.

Met a very nice woman there; we enjoyed dinner at 75th Street Brewery.....then a late breakfast.

Sigh.

I guess I'll have to ride over from Topeka again sometime. Maybe when it warms up.

Folding@home (f@h) is a program that you download and run on your computer in the background. It is a lot like SETI in that you download the program and configure it to either automatically or manually download work units (WU) for your computer to crunch while you continue with your normal computer usage. More importantly, if you participate, what you are doing is medical research for things like Alzheimer's Disease, Cancer and Huntington's Disease and you can help us beat the freepers. The freepers got a head start but lately their membership numbers are stagnating while the DU team continues to grow.

By using your computer's spare CPU cycles you can help scientists understand protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases. The DU team ID is 48157. It's so easy and more than a little addictive. I finished a WU while we were at The Flea Market last week and didn't know it until I got home!
