Protestors block Moore before speech

Earlier Tuesday, life got slightly difficult for Moore after he met with members of the Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice at a private home near 13th and New Hampshire streets.

The meeting, Moore said, was wholly pleasant. Although he and coalition members hit some snags in their discussion of war and labor issues, Moore said they found some common ground.

“We had a good conversation,” he said. “We agree on a lot more than I probably thought.”

According to coalition members, when Moore left for campus he was confronted by a group of protesters outside the house.

The protesters blocked off most of New Hampshire Street as Moore and his aides tried to drive to campus.

Sounds like he was getting some heat for his Republican-lite approach!

But he sure frustrates me every now and then.

He's a Democrat representing a largely Republican district. So I know his job must be hard. But he is also pro-war and doesn't support impeachment. BUT he is right where I have always wanted my reps to be on education issues.

though I could have strangled him after CAFTA and the bankruptcy bill. I got a survey call tonight, and I suspect it was from his campaign. They asked a lot of general political questions, and some very specific ones about Dennis. I had fun. :evilgrin:

Speaking of wanting to strangle him, I still remember when we told him about the Florida irregularities in 2003. He didn't know, although it did clear up for him what the Congressional Black Caucus was all upset about in 2001. :grr:

I called and left a voice mail and I sent him an email. That pissed me off. He usually responds.

Cleaver did respond. He is as disgusted with DeLay as I am. I guess Moore must like DeLay. :eyes:

but I wasn't in the mood to read another weak-ass explanation as to why he voted the way he did on whatever issue it was that I had contacted him about. The letter remains unopened and may just end up in the trash that way. :grr:

It was about impeachment.

Or should I just throw it away? I don't need another letter from him that says he's not going to do anything.

Like I told proud, I'm going to step up my efforts. He's got to listen to us.

btw, has anyone seen/heard from our very own "put out" lately? I haven't noticed her around lately and was starting to get a little worried.

She is busy with work and family stuff.

I'm not giving up. I can't. Perhaps we should try to organize a letter writing campaign. If each of us wrote him and got as many of our friends to do the same he's got to start listening. I just can't give up. I've got to fight back. I've got to double my efforts to educate him. I've also got to find Democratic candidates with spines in the future to support.

I thought he had Douglas County which was the only county to have voted for Kerry.
Even Boyda's district voted for Gore in 2000 (I have not looked up how 2004 went except by counties) but I think they re-did the district since then.

One of the reasons for the redistricting was to break up Douglas county's Democratic voting record.

Moore's district has 132,164 registered Democrats, 201,150 registered Republicans and 140,033 registered independents. Still, I need voting results to find out which way the independents usually vote if they can cover that gap of 68,986.

Boyda's district only has a gap of 59,294, but also seems to have about 65,000 fewer registered voters. It has 127,054 Democrats, 186,348 Republicans, and 115,291 independents (also they both have about 3,000 libertarians and 1,000 Reform Party, but apparently no registered Greens)

Wyandotte County went to Kerry, too.
