Did anyone see the latest Moore/Kobach debate? I missed most of it
last night. Kobach really rubs me the wrong way, but he seems to have a lot of (creepy) backers. I'm hoping sanity wins out...

1. I was there at JCCC
for the real thing. Kobach was late, as he apparently is to every event he goes to. Last night Shawnee Mission South High School had a "Meet the Candidates" thing where all the candidates whose districts were at least in part in the SMS attendance area were invited to come. Kobach never showed, although the Nazi Youth who are his supporters were there. Dennis Moore was there and more than approachable.

I was there, of course!

Anyway, back to the debate. Dennis Moore got a rousing standing ovation, and when Kobach finally showed up his supporters (the numbers looked just about equal, maybe slightly more Moore folks) tried to do the same, but they just didn't have the enthusiasm.

Kobach was so busy showing off his debating style that he spoke very fast and so was a little hard to understand. He kept on being rather insulting to Dennis. Problem is, he's a racist bigot and I shudder to think how awful things will be if he actually wins.

But then, I'll really blame all the Democrats who choose to register as Republicans so they can vote in the Republican primary and decided in huge numbers to vote for Kobach on the theory that he'd be easier to beat. I despise that kind of thinking. Better to go for the moderate that we could tolerate for two years, instead.

2. I agree, and I'm glad to hear the crowd responded that way.
I got to see only a few minutes on KCPT, but Kobach was talking very fast, and coming across as extremely arrogant and rude. I guess that really was representative of the whole debate! It scares me to think of what he'd do if elected.

I haven't made it out to many events this month, because my whole family has been sick! But I've met Dennis Moore, and agree that he's a very nice, approachable guy.
