Stealth creationist is running for the school board as a Dem!
His cover has been blown, first by Red State Rabble and now by the Lawrence Journal-World.

The evidence, which RSR is reporting exclusively, is an e-mail to religious right supporters from Celtie Johnson, described by the Pitch, Kansas City's alterndative newsweekly, as "a God-fearing Johnson County mom who was largely responsible for the last battle over evolution in Kansas schools. Back in 1999, she led an honest fight for biblical truth, attempting to get the Genesis creation story taught to schoolchildren. She's back again, fighting evolution once more, but this time she's standing up for the watered-down ID agenda."

Here are some key excerpts from Johnson's message to supporters:

This important notice is for all my friends who want to directly impact the spiritual war against God at the root...the origin of everything.

If we win at least 3 of these 5 positions, creating a 5-5 stalemate, we will prevent the evolutionists from overturning the world-changing progress Kansas has made so far, which established science standards that give both teachers and students the freedom to approach the godless theory of evolution with objectivity. If we can win all five seats, creating a 7-3 conservative majority in spite of all the media and academia against us, then the liberals and evolutionists would learn the undeniable message that they can no longer get away with cramming evolutionism down ours and our neighbors kids' throats! It would be history-making!!!

Johnson adds this about Jesse Hall, who has filed for office, but has yet to make a single public statement or campaign appearance:

Jesus has blessed us financially, Eric and I have given the maximum donation allowable from our family to each candidate. I hope and pray that you, too, will donate as much as you can. I've been told that if you must choose a candidate to support who needs your financial help the most, that that would be a toss-up between Jesse Hall of District #1 and Connie Morris of District #5, due to the unique dynamics of their races. Jesse Hall is a conservative, pro- life Democate who is running in the only "Democrat majority" district which is largely based in Kansas City, Kansas.

But Hall, an employee with the Kansas City, Mo., school district, said he didn’t know what all the fuss was about.

He said he grew tired of complaining about the education system and decided to run for office and try to effect change.

He said he supported the science standards adopted by the 6-4 majority that criticize evolution.

“The way it was set up, evolution was the only thing that could be taught. That doesn’t allow a child to step outside the box so that they themselves learn how to think,” Hall said.

If we want kids to "learn how to think," it's clear he's not the right candidate. :banghead:

1. I'l see what I can find out about this Jesse Hall
But I will tell you this - he may not be a certified teacher. I found this in the article:

"Hall said he works with students at risk of failing as a school interventionist and parent liaison for Central Middle School in Kansas City, Mo. Kansas needs to try different ways to reach at-risk students to reduce the dropout rate, he said."

Parent liasons are NOT teachers. They are often parents and not all even have college degrees. Not that this really matters. But I would hate to see him described as a "teacher" because he definitely is NOT.

I have a friend at that school. Let me hunt down her email address and see what she can tell me about this guy.

Thanks for the info!

2. Thanks! I'm curious to hear what his co-workers think of him.
From what I've read, he sounds like a RW wacko hoping to be taken as something else!

3. Jesse Hall
The Journal World finally gets stealth candidate Jesse Hall to come clean, but doesn't acknowledge the research that bloggers did for him:

Hall, an employee with the Kansas City, Mo., school district, said he didn’t know what all the fuss was about.…

He said he supported the science standards adopted by the 6-4 majority that criticize evolution.

“The way it was set up, evolution was the only thing that could be taught. That doesn’t allow a child to step outside the box so that they themselves learn how to think,” Hall said.

Opponents of the new science standards say they bring intelligent design — the theory that a master designer formed life — into science class.

Hall also supports changes to sex education put in place by the board’s 6-4 majority.
He also doesn't have a beef with Bob Corkins, or much else that the conservative Republicans on the Board have done. Janet Waugh has been a reliable support of good science education and good schools. Don't let dirty tricks take her off the Board.
