We've been "freeway blogged"
OK, maybe more accurate to say "trafficway blogged," anyway as I was driving north on Southwest Trafficway this morning I saw that someone had draped a sign on the pedestrian overpass just north of 31st Street, that read "Where's Osama?" I believe a second banner was draped for southbound traffic, although I can't confirm as it is very dicey to be changing lanes there and I had to keep my eyes on the road...

1. Yeah Kansas ! I hope we see more of the same.
On a local note: Have you heard about the inter-faith religious coalition, Kansans for Faithful Citizenship, supporting Governor Sebelius? I'm so happy about this because it's a good concrete response to the political organizing going on in the churches in our state.

2. Once upon a time, I got this one (still appropriate)!!
About as soon as John Conyers broke open the "Downing Street Memos", in June, 2005, I got an email. It reads like it was written by Yakov Smirnoff.

But since there are some more recently broken "Downing Street Memos" coming out (that will be particularly embarrassing to His Bushness), maybe this deserves a second thought now? Maybe even some action?

Whatcha' think?
(find old email below)

"Hello, Everybodeee!!

Everyone know the "Freeway Blogger"??

Good!!

(Hint) Google it if you don't.:)

Do you know how easy it is to print "Downing Street" on a laser or inkjet printer ??

And how cheap adhesive backed paper is at your local business supply store??

Some stores even sell BIG labels that you can print "Downing Street" on!!

Like,
Office Max or
Office Depot or
CompUSA or
Best Buy (Ughh! Red Company ...but for a good cause, huh ??)

How many "Downing Street"s can you make from every pack of 100 sheets ???

Wanna have a contest ???

Will they stick on municipal street signs that are on most corners???

Will they stick on the fancy wooden signs on the corners of those posh neighborhoods???

On those big, tall neighborhood privacy walls??? Even the stone ones???

On stall walls in public restrooms???

Over Bush-Cheney '04 stickers on cars?

On Humvees ?? In WalMarts ??!!

On an Impeachment Resolution ???

Golly, where else ??? I'm running out of ideas... are you???

Don't print so many that you may have to give some to friends. They might have even better ideas and win the contest !!

But you COULD cut'n'paste this note and pass it around to other people ???

Would they have ideas??? Maybe using "Downing Street" stickers to close envelopes to their Senators?? Or their Reps???

This could be such a fun game. Call it, "Pin the Goods on the Monkey"!!

Or, even better, call it "Pin the Chimp in the Pen" !!

You decide!

So, anyone want to play a game ???

3. Cool!
Here's some inspiration from www.freewayblogger.com - signs posted recently

Notes from the Freeway Blogger:

"Found this lovely pile of cardboard behind a furniture store in Sacramento. Using nothing more than paint, duct-tape, a boxcutter and an overhead projector, I was able to turn it into this:"

For you locals, there is a cardboard recycling center at 48th & Troost. Anyone ever been there?

6. ArnoldZ, so you know the answer to the KC Freeway Blogger's question?
WHERE'S OSAMA?

Speaking of "Freeway Clogged", the construction on south I-435 makes it a perfect venue for more freeway blogging...all those cars moving soooooo slowly. They'd have time to read a sign like this:

9. It was brief.
It posted a short, totally unrelated rant, I replied, and poof.

10. Freeway Blog
I have also seen the signs around town. It's happened more than once because I saw IMPEACH above Kellogg.

12. Those were me.
I had to go to Wichita that weekend, & while I was there I got a couple friends It took most of a case of white styrofoam Costco cups. A little less than a couple hours to hit all the overpasses. The city had them gone by 10 am the next day, but we did it at midnight on Labor Day so they were up for the entire rush hour when people went back to work after the holiday.

Sticking the cups in the chain link fences is really easy, & we made 3-foot letters that really stood out. The one near Kellogg & Hillside was best, because of the hill east of Hillside, it put IMPEACH at eyelevel for westbound drivers. Best $15 I ever spent.

14. That is a great idea!
Takes awhile to take it down too, unlike a sign.

13. In Wichita last week, on the peeestrians walkways that go over I-35
someone had put styrofoam cups spelling out IMPEACH. I saw it over several of the walkways. It may have been over Kellogg too since that highway has those as well.
