Wichita DUers Check IN
We could know each other and just don't know it.

Marcus here. Worked on the Governor's Campaign and with Nolla on the Coordinated campaign in the 4th district.

1. I've worked in state legislature and senate campaigns.
Donated to Sebelius, Finney, and Nolla campaigns last time around.

I'd been going to Dean MeetUps, now to the Democracy MeetUps. I may go to the next general Dem Party MeetUp. I'll work for the Kerry campaign (rather, for the ABB campaign), but don't have the stomach to go to a Kerry MeetUp. Actually, those who have gone report that they're meaningless, anyway.

Have you checked the other threads on the KS forum? Several DUers there have identified as locals.

2. Grew up in Wichita
but moved away a long time ago. Have they changed the name of "Hoovers Orchard" to "Bushs Orchard" yet?

4. That's the area just west of West Street?
I hasn't changed much, still a poor area. It got hopped over, and the rich live in the several miles to the west.

Remember Planeview? The temporary WWII housing near Boeing & Cessna? Still there, poor as ever, now culturally diverse, 19 languages spoken, and so on. My public health program has its community lab there -- conducts community-based courses, is involved in community projects, brings in health and other resources, and so on.

Some areas, like my part of town, are solidly Democratic; but the city as a whole votes disturbingly Republican.

7. Just 3 weeks left in Wichita.
Then it's off to another red state that needs to turn blue: Texas.
