My fellow Kansans, WE did it.
We got things done by working together. We've got a sane KSOB in control and science standards have changed.

Kans. ed board OKs evolution-centered science
Guidelines backed by conservatives skeptical of Darwin repealed

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas state Board of Education on Tuesday repealed science guidelines questioning evolution that had made the state an object of ridicule.

The new guidelines reflect mainstream scientific views of evolution and represent a political defeat for advocates of “intelligent design,” who had helped write the standards that are being jettisoned.

The intelligent design concept holds that life is so complex that it must have been created by a higher authority.

Rex (even though he isn't registered here, he reads us a lot and throws us parties so we can relax)
and all the rest of you who aren't listed (mostly because I have to go make dinner). Working together we made a difference.

Each of you is a :patriot: in my book. If I could, I'd give each of you who post here on the Kansas forum a heart. Instead all I can give you is my undying respect for doing all that you do. :loveya:

And whatever it is that we've been doing, let's keep doing it!

1. Big hooray!
Also to you and the Admiral!

I had no idea how difficult it was to get some sanity in a legislature (still working on them) or a school board. Honestly, I am dog tired and just beginning.

We can do it if we just stick together.

8. Yes we can
and every victory, no matter how small, helps us make Kansas a better place. Let's hope we're as successful in attaining civil rights for every one in the near future.

6. And thank you!
Sorry I forgot to mention your name in my list. I was between a rock and a hard place, so to speak. I was so excited about the decision that I wanted to get my "thank you" posted but I was also defending my time on the computer to do so when I had several hungry relatives in the house.

4. That and we have
one more Democrat in the state legislature, Gene Rardin. His two vote win shows that there are times when every vote counts. Thanks also to all here who helped out in his campaign.

Never mind, the link is redirecting to the wrong page. I've corrected it but it is taking longer than I expected to actually change.

12. Ooopsie
I was changing the text in the post while you were responding. It should redirect to http://algoredotorg.wordpress.com/ and not the "about" page in the next hour or so.

13. Why?
There's no need to do that. We can run parallel sites. We can talk about it this weekend. Speaking of which, I think I can migrate the contents of the experimental site to our server this weekend. I'm going to need to turn off the redirect at some point and start the content migration (or figure out how to do it while they are both active).
