400 People Marched through the CC Plaza Yesterday
The local event, in support of the virtual Stop Global Warming march located at http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/ , was to have occurred in Southmoreland Park, but was moved to Country Club Christian Church instead, where the 400+ attendees and several representatives from local environmental groups wrote postcards to their senators as they listened to local environmental activists. They also heard letters from Senator Roberts and Brownback that basically repeated right wing environmental talking points and then they participated in an enthusiastically noisy march through the CC Plaza.

P.S. Brownback’s letter did sound somewhat more conciliatory on the issues, probably an effect of his presidential aspirations; I’ll see if I can get a copy for you. Maybe he’s vulnerable to input from the People on this issue.

………………………………………………………….

P.P.S. 400 People marched through the CC Plaza yesterday, chanting their long range commitment to and support for measures to abate Global Climate Change and what does the K.C. Star run on the front page . . . ? http://www.kansascity.com/105/story/70880.html . Why couldn't this have been page 2? The Star gets accused of pandering all of the time; I guess that only matters to some people when it doesn’t happen to be their particular minority. Looks to me as though the Star could use some input on this issue. readerrep@kcstar.com
