This is my first thread start here at DU and it is a doozy.

I've been a gamer for three decades now and belong to a gaming forum out of Lexington.
In the last couple of days I have been in an extended debate with one of the other forum members that started as kind of a fun exercise, but has quickly escalated (as things do with folks of this ilk) to patronizing and disinformation.

use ambiguities to put you on the defensive. What Durbin said was in NO WAY as offensive as he makes it seem. He stated the conditions the preisoners were being held in, after describing them IN DETAIL, he then stated how if he hadn't mentioned the FBI investigating it, people would assume the scene was out of some Soviet Gulag, Nazi/Pol Pot prison. He was saying that it was BLATANT Human Rights abuse, and we should be ashamed of it.

He was NOT comparing * to Hitler at any moment. Unlike how Right wing lunatics call Hillary Clinton HITLERy Regularly, or how Rick Santorum compared Democrats in the Senate to Hitler, this over the FILIBUSTER !!!! Until this goose-stepper gets an apology out of Rick Santorum AND Limbaugh for EVERY time they've compared Dems to HITLER HIMSELF he has NO RIGHT to criticize someone who compared human rights abuse to human rights abuse.

There are big differences, though. The U.S. isn't in such dire economic conditions as 1930s Germany was.

This guy tells you to take a better look at the message being sent by CNN and CBS ??? Has he watched CNN ? These people have NO IDEA what a liberal media would look like. As for the Rather incident, the information on the letterhead was accurate, as stated by the secretary. She said she didn't type it but that it was factual. Hell EVERYONE knew * was a worthless little sh*t who didn't serve even a cushy little national guardsman duty. This has been evidenced time and again, and he wants to argue semantics. "I don't care whether or not it's true. Is the document it printed on from 1972 ? No, then it doesn't matter."

I gotta stop here though, I keep reading this guys post and I'll be doing something violent to someone.

I think for the sake of that site it was about time to wrap it up.
I don't know how I could have made my points any clearer, but there you go.
It was a fun bit of mental exercize and I at least got a few concessions.
There is always hope that these folks will wake up from the MSM haze that surrounds them.
