Louisiana May Ban Low-Slung Pants

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - People who wear low-slung pants that expose skin or "intimate clothing" would face a fine of up to $500 and possible jail time under a bill filed by a Jefferson Parish lawmaker.

State Rep. Derrick Shepherd said he filed the bill because he was tired of catching glimpses of boxer shorts and G-strings over the lowered belt lines of young adults.

The bill would punish anyone caught wearing low-riding pants with a fine of as much as $500 or as many as six months in jail, or both.

"I'm sick of seeing it," said Shepherd, a first-term legislator. "The community's outraged. And if parents can't do their job, if parents can't regulate what their children wear, then there should be a law."

are the over 50 white men drooling over seeing a 14 year olds thong, so instead of lowering the legal age limit, they restrict freedoms (causr thier manhoods work like womanhoods)

Why don't they wait four months, when the whole show-your-underwear-strap craze will die out? Banning it only makes them look stupid, and I would love to see those cops using tear gas and tactical clubs to bring in 17 year old violators.

Hopefully, such a silly bill will not become a law....Shepherd is probably one of those who, in early years, wore a duck-tail, tight jeans and a leather jacket, a la Fonzie. Those fads were also supposed to bring down the nation, not to mention the morals of the young. Like someone implied, Shepherd probably loves going to strip clubs to look at young girls wearing pasties and g-strings.

what a moron this guy is. where do you draw the line? do we start arresting plumbers too? what about women in swim suits?

maybe us youthful residents should get someone to propose a bill outlawing old people from pulling up their pants to their nipples. i can tell you that bothers me.

What do you expect? He is just looking for a way that cops can get extra pay-offs of drugs/money from teens. Sorry, I lived in Jefferson for many years and this is the ONLY motive for doing anything there. The pay-off. Nobody will actually be arrested for this, but naive teens will have to give BJs, cash, or dope "so just this once I'll let you off with a warning."

But then I see that our only other option is the Republicans and that makes me wanna puke some more.

I might understand walking around in a thong as indecent exposure but I don't see how it's indecent exposure to walk around in boxer shorts let alone pants that expose them. What are they going to do next? Ban swimsuits?
