Who could replace Rep. Jefferson?
He's been under investigation and in the event he retires, who would be a good choice to replace him? I know there are a large number of State Legislators just waiting for an opportunity to run for this seat.

1. Is the seat going to remain?
The word is here that the seat will be eliminated because of the population changes in the area. No concrete information yet, but I bet it is likely.

7. I don't think
the seat can be removed until after the next census, which will be 2010 I think.

3. Ray Nagin
I think that he'd be perfect to step in and replace Jefferson.

4. Please
-- wasn't Jefferson enough of an embarrasment? Using those rescue workers to get him to his home to check on his princely possessions when people were dying--what a scumbag. And isn't the House mediocre enough without the likes of Ray Nagin there? I know New Orleans can do better than that.

5. hopefully they'll notify me..
b/c Jefferson represents my area. I've wondered for a long time how he was able to keep his head above the curruption scandal waters. Disappointed but not surprised. Old school NOLA machine.

6. The State Legislature, which we control
Edited on Fri Nov-04-05 11:14 AM by ...of J.Temperance
Should begin gerrymandering as soon as possible. I'd redraw vast areas, I'd wipe out Bobby Jindal's seat and Richard Baker's seat and probably Jim McCrery's seat...or I'd combine the areas they represent with some solid Democratic nearby areas, put just enough Blue votes in their districts to wipe out the Red votes. And one could add further Blue votes in those areas, if one were to put some of the NOLA Katrina victims in those areas...I mean there's tens of thousands of the NOLA Katrina victims scattered throughout Louisiana.

Afterall, the Delay crony bastards in Texas DID DO exactly this and they wiped out what 10 Democratic seats.

The State Legislature needs to get some fucking balls and DO it...and PRONTO.
