Wake up Democrats!!!!
Jindal will run for governor in 2007. If we give him a cakewalk in 2006, we will guarantee his win.

There are too many people who have been fooled by the spin presented about him.

He represents the worst of the republican party. He supports a position of "no abortions, no exceptions". He supported putting co payments in medicaid in the last congressional election. And instead of focusing on getting Louisiana the aid it needs IF he wins in 2006, he will spend his 3rd year in congress running for governor. We need a full time congressman, not a full time politician.

The problem is, the only Democrat I have seen announce in 2006 is someone who wrote a book with a naked woman pinned to a cross. This is NOT the message that Democrats believe in. BUt if we just sit back and ignore LA01, we will allow the Republicans to PAINT us like that..... and it could make us lose LA03 if the Republicans are able to say "look at what the Democrats are about".

I contacted the state party and have not received a single peep other than the typical "LA01 is not winnable". WHO CARES if it is not winnable. If we can make Jindal win with 60% instead of 80%, we will make it THAT much harder for him to win the governors race in 2007. Lets work on winning people over... one person at a time. If we can get 30% of the vote in 2006, and 35% of the vote in 2008 and 40% of the vote in 2010... we get closer and closer to making LA01 a winnable district. But it WONT happen if we just bend over and take it.

Be proud to be democrats, don't settle for the second best, and for gods sake think in the LONG TERM.

1. great
perfect message!

there is someone actually running for the district too, from what i can tell he's getting fairly organized and he has a good story. I profiled him on my blog today.

you are completely right, Jindal isn't even campaigning for said district as he is all over the state making photo ops for his govenor run.

2. TWO democrats are running in LA01
And I am the campaign manager for the other one. The second candidate is David Gereighty ( http://www.gereighty.com ).

He registered on friday, I was out of town until sunday, I called him sunday night and by the end of the night I agreed to help out the campaign as much as I could. He is a great guy with a great message.
