Washington Family Speaks Out
"We were married 36 years," says Mary Washington, "and he's the best I could ever ask for and I'm going to miss him. He was my best friend, my world, my everything, and I just feel so lost without him."

But through her faith, Mary Washington knows she will live on.

<...>

Germaine Washington Broussard says, "The forensic pathologist in East Baton Rouge parish did not conclude the same thing that Dr. Welke concluded, as he could not."

The family does say they now feel confident everything is being done to learn the truth.

It's too bad the MSM hasn't given this story the attention it deserves, but rather, for the most part, parroted the original coroner ("families never want to believe a family member would do this", "no defensive wounds", "embedded soot", etc.).

3. Slightly OT, but what the hell happened to journalistic standards?

Chrissakes, I just read that article at kplctv.com and feel that I know less about this story than before I clicked it.

And I knew NOTHING about this story.

What happened?

4. Long story...
http://www.klfy.com/Global/story.asp?S=5878497">Westlake Mayor-Elect Found Shot to Death
http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/0107/384921.html">La. Mayor-Elect's Death Ruled Suicide
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-6326280,00.html">La. Mayor's Death Sparks Controversy

That should provide some background. I guess not many people have followed this, thanks to the lack of major coverage. Sad. I guess it's one of those stories that aren't newsworthy, given the rosie/trump feud and such :puke:.

6. Thank you - I had heard about this story but could not connect it
and that link sure didn't help.

Terrible story. Ruled a suicide?

"It is always hard for family members to believe a loved one caused their own death, and it was no different for the Washington family," Mancuso said."

Yeah, he was so fucking despondent over having won an election.

God help us.

5. Well Gawd Damn...
I guess if a story isn't MSM-certified, it's not LBN, even a political assassination.
