SCHIP Veto Override Oct 18, Rove's Brilliant Strategy ...
I smell Rove all over this. Remember, everything Republicans do is political, designed to increase their power. I believe in this case Rove is brilliantly using Bush's unpopularity to elect at least one Republican, specifically Piyush "Bobby" Jindal to the Louisiana governorship.

Read my earlier post about how Jindal now vigorously supports SCHIP and will be sure to be in Washington to override Bush's veto (when he never bothered to vote on SCHIP before). And how no other candidates were even asked about SCHIP.

Guess what? The override vote for SCHIP is October 18th, the election is October 20th.
Jindal is running around 50% in the polls and has gone below that. If he gets 50+ he is Governor, there is no runoff.

So come October 18th the Big Media will focus on him going to fight for the people. Friday the 19th expect big stories about how "Bobby" helped override the Bush veto (if that happens, really no bad if it doesn't) and is the hero of the children. Saturday the 20th enough people are fooled to insure there is no runoff. Jindal marches in!

Classic Rove, Classic!

And this, by the way, is also a distraction from Iraq.
If the prior Republican Congress had passed SCHIP there would be no Bush veto, I guarantee.

I would try to get the vote postponed till October 22 or later. Rove could not have picked a better day than October 18th himself. Whose side is the House leadership on?

Remember, you read it here first. Kick it!
