Is Charlie Melancon going to talk about David Vitter's adultery or not?
I don't see him being able to win unless he does. Got to peel off at least a few of those family values conservatives.

Melancon should be shamelessly bringing this up over and over and over again. And constantly remind people that he is a "family man" who is happily married to the same woman for (?) number of years, with constant, non-stop pictures and film footage of his family being used in campaign ads.

2. No
I don't Charlie Melancon will stop to mud slinging unless Vitter does first. But I agree he should definatly use the family angle in his ads (married to Peachy 37 years, lives in him hometown of Napoleonville), just not bring up Vitter's adultery directly. Sometimes subtlety works best.

3. I doubt he will
The fine folks up here in NE Louisiana don't seem to care that Vitter is a lying hypocrite. As long as they have an R by their name they will win up here.

4. Above the fray.
This is true yet Mr. Melancon should stay above the fray and present his ideas in a gentlemanly manner. Any effort to stoop to mudslingin is going to turn off fragile uninformed swing voters. Regular non political types ('Specially oldsters) don't like the negative talk.

5. Melancon needs to step it up
He is doing good things for helping with the oil spill (he was able to get extra booms and get it delivered by the Air Force). He needs to get in front of the camera (or get his reps in front) and let the public know HE GOT IT DONE.

6. He needs volunteers
knocking on theirnneighbors' doors, telling their friends to vote for him. Tuesday night (Night Out Against Crime) we used the opportunity to talk to our neighbors. Several people were voting for Vitter because they had no idea who Melancon was, but we ended up walking away with four neighbors saying they would vote for Melancon and three more will be coming over for coffee Saturday to discuss him further.
