Whatever happened with her? Did anyone ever get involved in her campaign...democratic party support?

they never put any backing behind her. I guess she wasn't in the exclusive club that is Louisiana Democrats.

Former 5th Congressional District candidate Zelma "Tisa" Blakes will call for the resignation of the Louisiana Democratic Party's top two officials during a news conference in Monroe today.

Blakes, the only Democrat in the Nov. 2 race, said she received virtually no support from the state party during her unsuccessful run in which she got 25 percent of the votes. U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, won re-election with 59 percent of the votes cast.

Blakes said that Democratic Party executive director Derek Wooley told her she had no chance to win in the conservative 5th District because she is a black woman. She believes Wooley and Chairman Mike Skinner should resign.

"This party infrastructure needs reconstructing," Blakes said. "I experienced racial and gender bias from my own party."

something else bothering me. how come that except for what you and I posted here, I didn't see any support on DU or anywhere else, even on KOS where I first heard of her at the beginning? She was such a likely candidate...or did I miss some? I think I nominated her for Dean's group.
I can understand about the Dem party there...after all Southern Democrats were never known for their "liberal" attitude. Glad some action is being taken.

but I really didn't see much interest either. I too nominated her for Deans group. I know some grassroots dem groups up there got behind her, but she could have had a BUNCH more support than she got. i wasn't even aware that she got as much help from the LA party as she did (or as the party CLAIMS they gave her)

I've had it with the Lousiana Democratic party. That petition above pretty much sums up my feelings. We need to clean house down here and start all over.

She is fun to talk to. Maybe someday i actually will make it out there. Have a family thing going on in Florida in mid feb. maybe take a side trip to LA and see all of you.
