Maine GOP putting out "VOTE REPUBLICAN" Direct Mailers
Hello,

Today I received a direct mail lit piece saying "VOTE REPUBLICAN!" because Maine Republicans "will be the party that lowers taxes" and that "people are having to leave their homes because of high taxes".

We all knew that they were going to do this and run a general "VOTE REPUBLICAN" campaign in Maine, playing to the "doom and gloom" notions about taxes and our economy. The Maine Republicans are billing themselves as the "party of change and reform in Maine" and believe they will unseat Baldacci and obtain majorities in both houses of the legislature by doing so.

Dems had to have seen this coming a mile away. At every chance they get, the Maine R's talk about "30 years of Democratic rule" in the legislature and the need for "tax relief" and "reform."

The Maine GOP's efforts no doubt also hope to gin up the tax fears in order to help the dangerous, ultra-right-wing TABOR bill pass (TABOR is now behind in the polls).

My question is, HOW ARE WE GOING TO RESPOND ON A LARGE SCALE?? WHERE ARE OUR ADS AND DIRECT MAIL SAYING "DON'T LET THE REPUBLICANS DO TO MAINE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE IN WASHINGTON - VOTE DEMOCRAT"?? WHERE ARE OUR ORGANIZED TELEPHONE TREE EFFORTS OR E-MAIL TREE EFFORTS?? WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN MORE OF AN ISSUE MADE OF DICK CHENEY'S $2000 PER PLATE FUNDRAISER IN CAPE ELIZABETH IN SEPTEMBER WHICH WENT TO STATE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES??!! DOES OUR PARTY WANT TO WIN THIS ELECTION OR NOT??!!

As you know the Maine GOP is getting LOTS of cash from their national party organizations, and they are going to bring in GOTV canvassers from outside the state.
They will hold rallies, micro-target, and have had high-schoolers/college kids out holding signs and "mini-rallies" at intersections. They are clearly set on "turning Maine red" and are going to push VERY hard in their end game to GOTV bigtime and do just that. THE MAINE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BETTER DARN WELL GET MOVING AND GET THE HELL OUT THERE AND RESPOND TO THIS, AND THAT MEANS RIGHT NOW!!

PLEASE URGE THE STATE PARTY TO RESPOND AND GET MOVING BIGTIME ON GOTV, AND PLEASE HELP IN WAY YOU CAN IN YOUR COMMUNITY!!

THANKS!!

Thanks very much. - RON
