Maine soldier killed in Afghanistan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Governor Saddened by Soldier's Death in Afghanistan
AUGUSTA - Governor John Baldacci received confirmation today that Sgt. Edmund Wayne McDonald, 25, from Casco, was killed in a non-hostile accident during his tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Sgt. McDonald, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, was killed Wednesday, March 28, in a vehicle accident.

"Maine has lost another brave soldier," Governor Baldacci said. "I want to send my condolences to Sgt. McDonald's family. The entire state mourns with you and stands beside you during this difficult time."

Flags will be ordered flown at half staff on the day of Sgt. McDonald's funeral.

No further information is available at this time.
