Human foot found at Moose Point State Park

SEARSPORT (Aug 13): A visiting family walking Sunday, Aug. 12, at Moose Point State Park found a sneaker in the seaweed with the remains of a foot inside.

Waldo County Sheriff's Department Detective Matt Curtis said a juvenile member of the family made the discovery at about 3:40 p.m. and the family notified rangers at the park.

Curtis said the Medical Examiner's Office would conduct DNA tests to make a positive identification.

It appears likely the discovery is related to the death last winter of Harrison Damon, the 17-year-old male who went off the Penobscot Narrows Bridge into the Penobscot River on March 5.
