Raining on the Thanksgiving Day Parade

“Redefining” the Holiday Is a Failed Project

by Robert Jensen / November 14th, 2007
<snip>
At this point in history, anyone who wants to know this reality of U.S. history — that the extermination of indigenous peoples was, both in a technical legal sense and in common usage, genocide — can easily find the resources to know. If this idea is new, I would recommend two books, David E. Stannard’s American Holocaust: Columbus and the Conquest of the New World and Ward Churchill’s A Little Matter of Genocide. While the concept of genocide, which is defined as the deliberate attempt “to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group,” came into existence after World War II, it accurately describes the program that Europeans and their descendants pursued to acquire the territory that would become the United States of America.

2. ha ha your so un-informed

Using your premise we are all operating under false pretenses. you see my ancestors came from england,france,scotland and ireland with a native american mixed in there somewhere. most likely from the canadian french side.
all of these countries were over run and placed in servitude,slaughtered and faced the same
future that the native americans did. some of these countries were over turned several times
from 700ad till now.
many holidays we celebrate have come from other cultures. so I say to you
BAH HUMBUG- TRY MICKEY DEE'S -I'M HAVING TURKEY!

EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY,ENJOY IT WITH LOVE ONES IF YOU CAN!

luckyleftyme2, slave and proud of it!

"...we are all..."
"...we celebrate..."

Upon hearing, 'We doctors...,' he knew this man to be a slave. This 'We doctors...' was his self as co-extensive with his internalized others...
