POTHOLES

Bangor east pothole Central haven't seen potholes like this for years. reminds me of the old tar top roads of yesteryear.
I must be honest not much better in mid-coast Maine. the weather is a major factor.
Makes me think of my old professors recipe for building a good highway=drainage ,drainage and then more drainage.

1. We're down to the old cobblestones on a lot of Portland's streets.
I'd hate to see what our roads would be like without them.

My road has been flooded under at least two feet of water three times in the last month.
Ridiculous.

Perhaps we can get some sailing ships to haul to Portland. I'm sure you know that's what they used for ballast years ago.(cobble stones)
I can remember years ago many of the port cities had cobblestone streets.
Many roads are being overlaid with a mixture of reprocessed hot top. I think this mixture
rags faster than 100% new mix. This would allow water infiltration and cracking to start sooner.

3. I drive thru Old Town & Orono each day. It's a mine field on every
road. New ones pop up every morning faster than they can fix 'em. There's one on Route 16 in Old Town that's big and deep enough to hide a small deer. That section of road was repaved two years ago and it's now completely shot.

4. casco-sebago

well I checked out the ice fishing derby on sebago sunday. rte 302 side was packed no room for parking unless u drove on lake. so we decided to cut over to rte 114 via naples.
well my wifes new vehicle has about a 1000 miles on it straight ahead and about 3000 up and down from the frost heaves and pot holes on rte114. I believe portions of that road
will need emergency repair before frost heave season is over. the ole airline has nothing on the portion just south of camp skylamar. the portion 1 mile north of nason's beach was
so bad that I was driving less than 10mph.
their is at least 2 feet more snow in this area than Bangor. I was told they had 44inches on the ground before the storm fri. and they picked up about 8-10 more.
panther run and jordan bay area was full of cars, snowmobiles, dirt bikes and fisherman.
I think the rotary club of windham has done a fantastic job raising money for charities.
