Early voting heavy in Midcoast
In Camden, 1,315 people had taken out absentee ballots and 916 had returned them as of Monday afternoon. Town Clerk Katrina Oakes said the greatest number of absentee ballots voted on before this year was 600 to 700.

The town has also seen 239 new voters register this year, a much larger number than usual. The town has slightly more than 4,000 registered voters.

Oakes said that on Election Day at the central voting site, two machines will be designated simply to count absentee ballots. Those ballots will begin being put through the machines at 10 a.m. Until Nov. 4, the absentee ballots are locked in the town office vault.

Rockland Registrar of Voters Wanda Harvey said the city has issued 1,028 absentee ballots and 815 have been returned. This compares to 1,000 absentee votes completed for all of the 2004 general election.

Rockland has also see a large number of new voters registering. The city has 4,659 registered voters.

In Rockport, 689 absentee ballots had been taken out and completed as of Tuesday morning. This compares to 662 for the entire 2004 presidential election year, noted Town Clerk Linda Greenlaw.

2. Hey you!
LMD was very upset to find out that they do not let 6 year olds vote. Then to top it off the mock election at school was for third grade and up. Talk about insulted. :( Poor kid.

7. I just wish some of this would spread to Allen...
He ran a crappy campaign I think (should have hit Collins earlier about breaking her promise on the term limits). And he should have hit those STUPID mafia-union ads immediately...

Now I don't know if Allen is totally toast because of the numbers of Democrats voting, (and no Dems I know are voting for Collins), but she seems to have the Independent vote which sucks...

Anyways, voted by absentee yesterday in Liberty & handed it right in, Dems down the line (except for Probate Judge where only a REpublican was listed, so I wrote in my Mother in Law...There was no way in HELL any Republican was gonna get my vote...still, if my MIL finds out, she's gonna be pissed).

5. !
WOW! That is great! I mean, not if you were late going somewhere, but great for us! I was happy to see someone else voting when I went back on Oct. 9th. (I'm up here in Camden) Someone came door knocking yesterday at my house. Let me tell you that my house is down a long driveway not visible from the road with no number on it. The guy was from the Tom Allen campaign. I was so happy to see someone out, but I really never thought that anyone would come down to this house.
