Baldacci: Vermont vote won't influence him (cross posted in GLBT)
AUGUSTA — Gov. John Baldacci says he's not influenced by the Vermont Legislature's passage of a gay marriage bill as similar legislation works its way through the Maine Legislature.

The governor, who previously opposed gay marriage, says he's keeping an open mind and that he's taking a "wait and see" attitude as he awaits the legislative debate.

In an interview, Baldacci told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Mainers are listening to what's going on in Vermont and other states and can learn from that. But he says Maine will consider gay marriage in its own way, and in a respectful way.

Mail to his office is running heavily against the bill to recognize gay marriages.

1. The Marriage initiative is quite organized

He is getting more letters from those against gay marriage because the anti-gay marriage crowd is more organized.

You can use their legislative search engine to find your legislators and Baldacci's contact info-

But I wouldn't give them the same message, lol!
