Mother in Salem faces charges of prostitution

April 7, 2007

Police charged a Salem mother with prostitution after investigators said her husband told patrolmen she had transformed the family basement into a dominatrix lair to earn extra money.

The husband talked about Paula Webb's bondage business after the couple got in an argument on March 16, police said. They said Stephen Webb, 54, showed them ropes, whips, a leather mask, and other accessories in a mock dungeon.

Detective William Jennings went undercover and answered an ad posted online.

With her 6-year-old and 9-year-old upstairs, Webb led the detective into the basement and agreed to have sex with him for $150, Jennings said yesterday. A moment later, Webb recognized him. "You look like a cop I used to know," she said, according to Jennings. "I said, 'Yeah, I'm Bill Jennings; you're under arrest.' "

(CBS) BOSTON A mother of two who reportedly ran a dominatrix dungeon in her Gallows Hill, Boston basement is facing a prostitution charge after allegedly agreeing to perform a sex act on an undercover detective.

Paula Webb, 42, was arrested Wednesday night in the basement of her house on Albion Street. Police said her husband and children were upstairs at the time.

According to a report in the Salem News, the investigation began on March 16, when police responded to a call about a domestic incident at the house. According to the report, the Webbs had been arguing after Paula Webb complained that her husband hadn't cleared the snow off her car.

According to the report, when the detective and Webb met, he said the woman told him to take off his clothes, and he began removing his hat, jacket and shirt. While he took off his clothes, they agreed he would pay $150 for oral sex, police said in the report.
