Report says Mass. is doing poor job in infrastructure repairs (Reported in "Duh!" Magazine?)
BOSTON -- A report to be released on Tuesday says Massachusetts is doing a poor job keeping critical public assets in good repair -- from roads and bridges to jails and universities.

The study by the Boston-based Pioneer Institute also finds that the state is facing at least $17 billion in deferred maintenance costs. The report recommends the creation of a special facilities maintenance fund.

The report specifically names the Longfellow Bridge connecting Cambridge and Boston. Repairs to just Longfellow are reportedly expected to cost at least $180 million.

1. Well, we've got Mitt "Line Item Veto" Romney to thank for that shit
Hell, he nixed $25M in tunnel maintenance, which led to the death of a woman on his watch.

See, that's how that Baaaaaaastid balanced the budget--by fucking the infrastructure. Hell, he never lived here--he spent most of the time at his NH lake home--and he figured, correctly, he'd be gone before the shit started falling down around him....

Just another Romney legacy, I guess!!!!

2. Roads and bridges a wreck and you still can't negotiate the
Southeast Xway worth a darn,it is still just as congested as before. The new "Big Dig" is so bad it scares all of us as we drive through. We are now told that it will need constant maintenance for its expected lifespan, not just cosmetic, but major repair just to keep it safe(hopefully). Now it seems, millions of gallons are pumped out of the tunnel system daily, an unexpected amount.

Traffic still horrible in Boston...what can we expect when they start work on the Storrow Drive Tunnel? Chaos! I didn't even know about the Longfellow Bridge. On the North Shore, just about every state road is a wreck. Potholes, trenches, patches, no white lines. How could our public figures allow such a mess to continue. Some of the small bridges in my area scare the heck out of me. The cement is crumbling, the metal is corroded and rusty. I hope it does not take a horrible accident to wake up our legislators.
