BROCKTON —
A proposed fossil fuel power plant would involve placing a massive oil tank next to the Salisbury River and would have other yet-unknown impacts on wetlands, Conservation Commission members learned Thursday.
A crowd of 70 residents and local officials packed a City Hall meeting room for the conservation hearing. Many sharply criticized the controversial 350-megawatt plant, which would be located on Brockton’s south side near numerous houses, schools and wetland areas.

The company also took heavy criticism for not including the full wetland impact of the project in its conservation filing. The company only included impacts from construction of the plant.
The company didn’t include the impacts from power lines, water lines and the actual operation of the plant. Company officials said those plans are incomplete, and the projected wetland impacts would be filed at a later date.
