Floundering Brockton Rox lock office doors, said to be restructuring finances
Team’s future is uncertain as employees are told to take vacations

BROCKTON —

Three days after losing a playoff game to end their season, the floundering Brockton Rox locked up its office, the employees’ job status was uncertain and the team was said to be restructuring its finances.

“There’s been no final curtain call,” Ward 3 Councilor Dennis Eaniri said about the struggling baseball organization. “They’re feverishly working on trying to make payments.”

Earlier this month, the team notified the 21st Century Corp., which collects the rent for Campanelli Stadium, where the team plays, and the adjacent Shaw’s conference center, that the Oct. 1 payment will not be on time.

The team owes $62,500 plus a portion of concessions on Oct. 1, and it owes a larger payment in December for the stadium and game parking receipts, according to city and 21st Century Corp. leaders. The Shaw’s Center’s lease agreement is separate.
