Happy 37th birthday, WBCN!!!!
Post stories of your earliest memories here. Best post gets Danny Schecter's email address.

Special prize for the eariest (but I haven't figured out that yet).

Trivia questions:
1. What does WBCN stand for?
(hint: the "W" stands for a local musician).
2. What music was used in its first on-air station ID?
3. What was the address of the original studio?
4. Where is Charles Laquadera now?

1. I used to be a promoter's rep at Great Woods.
I used to deal with those guys every concert.

Oh, the memories...

2. The "W" is the same for every station east of the Mississippi
I don't know what they claim it stands for, but they didn't really have a choice. W east of the Mississippi, K west of the Mississippi.

All that said, I love(d) Wonderful Wubbleyoo BCN! Charles Laquadera used to be awesome. And the lunchtime song parodies were always instant classics (remember Devo's "Eat it...over plate. Chew it up. Gain weight...Turkey loaf, Bunny bread...try to di-gest it...it's not too late! Eat it...eat it good!"

Happy B-Day, BCN!

4. I still remember the "dog and cat report," lost & found dogs & cats
And there was a prison report. And can't forget Charles Laquidara's matza ball soup story. :-)

I don't know if it was their original studio or not, but I remember when they broadcast from the top of the Pru and you could stand there and watch them.

That was a great station in the old days, its free-form format where you could hear totally different kinds of songs in a row.

5. songs in a row & studio
I remember a studio prior to the Pru, it was at 212 Stewart St.

And for "songs in a row", there usually was a theme or logical connection.

And who can forget, after Danny closed the news, the song selected had some deep connection to his last story.
