DFA: 24-Hour Fillibuster Protests outside courthouses nation-wide
24 HOUR FILIBUSTER at Courthouses

Local grassroots groups are organizing a 24 hour filibuster - midnight to midnight on the steps of the Joseph Moakley Federal Court House, Boston to protest the threat by Senate Republicans to use the "nuclear option" to prevent the use of the time honored procedure of filibustering.

The rally which starts at five p.m. on Wednesday, at federal court houses across the country, needs a large turnout to demonstrate the strong support this fight has among progressives, and conservatives concerned with the dismantling of the systems' checks and balances.

You can stop by on the 27th and be a reader or go to the website and contribute materials to be read or spread the word to friends, family and the media. Or attend rally at 5PM

1. I think this is a great idea and won't join MoveOn
because they are not a real grassroots organization and have no interest in feedback.

So sorry.

sfexpat2000, sometimes the central issue is larger than any side-issues.

By that I mean that moveon.org is attempting to gather folks around the country to protest AGAINST a very important issue that affects all Americans, not merely locals. However, local help is necessary and needed. Grassroots organization is essential.

However you may feel about its "no feedback" (which may be due or not to its enormous size and subsequent bureaucracy) is not the time for negativism due to the enormity of the Separation of Powers issue and constitutional integrity issues on the line presently.

It's now a time for Democrats and other progressives and moderates to solidify not divide. After all, "united we stand, divided we fall" has been used far too long by the keen and sleazy divisiveness of the Karl Roves of America against us all.

. .
BTW, is Scalia auditioning for the job as Chief Justice?
