Romney won't cede pill decision
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2005/07/23/romney_wont_cede_pill_decision/

Governor Mitt Romney indicated yesterday that he may interrupt his New Hampshire vacation and return to Beacon Hill to act on the controversial emergency contraception bill that is expected on his desk in days.

His planned return would eliminate the possibility that Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey, an abortion rights supporter who becomes acting governor in Romney's absence, could sign the bill into law.

<snip>

The governor has sought to define his stance on the issue of abortion rights while weighing whether to run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2008. He has described himself as ''personally pro-life" this year, but abortion rights advocates point out that he had pledged to support emergency contraception during his 2002 campaign.

2. He's going to veto it.
Apparently, expanding emergency contraception
would "change (Mass. abortion) laws".

3. I just heard on the evening news
A reporter on the local evening news, commenting that Romney said he supported wider access to emergency contraception when he campaigned for governor, asked what sort of 'emergency contraception' does he actually support. When pressed, he admitted that it doesn't yet exist. :banghead:

:rant:

Mittens is a lying snake. No, wait a minute, snakes are better than Mittens. I extend my apologies to the slithering reptile community everywhere.

Because the bill passed with a veto-proof majority, this will be overridden. This is just Mittens grandstanding for the wingnuts on this.

Message to folks who encounter Mittens in the run-up to the 2008 presidential race: He is an opportunistic liar who will say anything to get elected. :puke:
