I met Senator Kennedy
at the Kennedy complex, in Hyannisport - along with about 400 other people, just over a week ago. There was a clambake at the Kennedy complex, the people invited were contributors to his Senate campaign.

I make sure to thank him in person for opposing the Roberts nomination. And I and my family got a picture of us with him in the picture.

The party was lots of fun; a clambake with lobster, chicken, live music, etc, etc. The weather was perfect, and there were lots of little kids playing.

There was a sign on the beach to discourage intruders: "Beware of dog". We met the dog: a big friendly poodle, going around getting petted by everyone.

Senator Kennedy himself is quite an engaging speaker. I had never realized what a good Southern accent he can put on (he was telling a story about a legislative defeat at the hands of a Southern Senator).

If we are really lucky, we may be able to get to another of these for the 2012 campaign. Ted is 72 now, he would be 78 for the next campaign.

Ted Kennedy is really sharp; we are lucky to have him. Of course, much of my family is right-wing fundamentalist, and they regard Ted as being about as bad as Satan - or perhaps even Hillary Clinton.

1. How can I politely say this
It is nice that Senator Kennedy opened up the Kennedy compound to the paying public. But for many of us, $400/family is a lot to spend for a clambake.

2. That's for sure.
I would have loved to attend that gathering, but darn, how many tanks of gas would that $400. buy?

4. $400 bucks is CHEAP for a fund-raiser dinner!
Most of 'those' fund-raiser dinners are $1000 a plate!!
Although if $400 is a lot for you or anybody;
then $400 is a lot!
It's a lot for me too!
But the $150 a plate was tempting!
(leave the kid home! lol)
Except I don't like lobster or shellfish! lol
I met Kennedy (Ted) when he was a LOT younger...
so was I!! He,he!
I met his kids on Martha's Vineyard too!
We (my friend and I) picked one of them up
hitch-hiking across the island to a party.
We ended up going to the party too!! lmao!
On the beach! Bonfire!
In Edgartown.
We had a blast although we were just a little older!
Oh well! We didn't care and neither did they!

Glad you had a great time at the clambake!

Sounds like it was a lot of fun!
