Bourne Rotary Blogging Photos and tale
A bone chilling mighty gusty wind made it hard, but we got out
there to show support for peace. The shift is clearly noticable
and in our favor. The people are on our side! Those who still
resist seem to be more animated in expressing their tired old position,
very defensive, they know they are losing support for this illegal invasion.

We had an issue with the state troopers. One stopped by early in our vigil,
and told us he was calling this in, that we didn't have to leave right this
moment, but that we needed a permit. (This is false, I checked into this last
year, and we have been there a total of 5 times now without an incident) He did
say he agreed with our signs. He told us we would have to leave when he returned.
This didn't phase us, as we know we had the right to be on that piece of public
domain.

Passionate Mike did step quite close to the road a few time however, and was seen
doin this by the troopers, who then came back in force. 3 cars, 3 cops, lights on,
and stopped traffic dead. One testostorone filled cop came over and started yelling
to us that we had to leave now. I calmly asked him if he could lower his voice, and
brind the tension down so I could ask a few questions. He did, for a second, then
must have felt threatened by a strong willed but, polite woman, an yelled at me to stop talking or he would arrest me- he then added, "And I don't appreciate being talked to
like a child" Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:eyes: I really wanted to tell him to stop acting
like one. They made us pack it up and take our message off of the rotary, but said
we could stay on the other side of the street.

All the while traffic continued to back up until we finished our move, and many
more travelers bore witness to our cause because of their little power move. Thanks
coppers!

The military base down the road had weekend excercises and we got much approval from
soldiers passing by. I really think they know that we are doing this for them, as
well as anyone.

A special thanks to War No More, a fantastic DUer who came out to keep the faith

So with that, here are a few photos

4. Interesting development.....
Seems there is a brand stinking new NO TRESSPASSING sign on
the rotary! Who should I go see to investigate?

So I guess this means that for the upcoming elections that
none of the local politicians and their supporters
will be able to stand out there too, correct? Tit for Tat!

5. You mean someone just put up the No TRESSPASSING sign
since the photos were taken??

Call the Cape Cod Times- this is a news story, and you're right -

Call politicians who you know have stood at the same spot and ask them to speak up about this

7. I've been waiting for your post..
I ceded my computer most of the week to my visiting son. Besides, since *you* were the "troublemake", I wanted you to post first. Lol
I took my son home Tuesday and didn't notice the new sign.

It was definitely a real overreaction on the part of the trooper. To yell like he was just shows me that his viewpoint was threatened. My first protest and look what happened. It was exhilirating.

It was great to finally meet you, we'll have to do it again.

10. Hello~
Greetings.....Nice to see what's happening around the state. Great pictures...thanks for sharing! We had a small vigil in Gardner on the 19th, and am in search of people in central MA who would like to join us for future events.
As I am new here....unable to start a thread, don't really know how to use the forum, upload pics, etc.....Dazed & Confused~
I'll learn my way around eventually....
Great job with the rotary blogging! Keep up the good work!
PEACE~

11. Welcome to DU, Dystopian.
Wow! This is the first time I've been the first person to reply to someone's very first post! :hi:

I live just outside of Boston, but I think there may be some folks here on DU who live in central MA. Once Monday rolls around, there'll be more people posting. Sundays tend to be a little slow here.

You'll be surprised how quickly you learn your way around here. We all started dazed & confused. If you have any questions, just ask. There's always someone glad to help.

15. Thank you!!
Thank you for the nice welcome notmyprez, paineinthearse, unhappycamper & TaleWgnDg!! :-) I used to post on the AOL boards, and was always getting my posts pulled...finally stopped hiding behind my computer...and hit the streets. Gathered signatures for the Home From Iraq Now ballet initiative....I thought for sure it would pass...

I see that I disabled my profile...not that I wrote anything, but now that I want to...I can't seem to undisable myself...I think I'll remain dazed and confused.....It really is a way of life...
I'm a simple INFP vegetarian ~ still living in the 60s, and very happy to be here!
PEACE~
