Mike Rogers to get a divorce
U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Brighton, considered by many to be a rising star in the Republican Party, is expected to file for divorce today from his wife of 17 years, Diane Rogers.

They have two children.

Neither the congressman nor his wife would comment, other than to issue the following joint statement: "After working on our marriage for years, including marriage counseling, we have decided to separate. We do so with mutual respect and a commitment to friendship in the best interests of our children. We ask for respect of our family's privacy during this difficult time. We will have no further comment on this matter."

Mike Rogers becomes the third Livingston County elected official to be divorced in the past eight months. State Rep. Chris Ward, R-Brighton, and Nicole Ward were divorced in January, and state Sen. Valde Garcia, R-Marion Township, was divorced from Karla Lynne Garcia in November.(emphasis added)

1. Disgusting.
I wish they'd think about what they are doing to the sanctity of marriage in America.

3. I met him when I was a child living in Howell
He ran for county commissioner I believe and won after my uncle decided to stop running for the seat, if I remember right, I was rather young back then. I remember him patting me on the head, and I looked him right in the eye and said..."Stop That Dammit". My uncle about lost it laughing.

4. I'd watch for him to run for governor next time around, anyways
Big John got divorced right before running (although Blanchard also got divorced from wife #1 in that time frame) and it didn't hurt his chances.

TheGOP isn't going to waste Rogers by running him for Senate against Levin. They'll save that honor for someone either really old or a "rino".
