Nancy Skinner back on the air this week
Air America, that is. She'll be subbing for Lionel from 9-12 a.m. Monday-Wednesday this coming week (and also subbed last week and did a great job). I know we don't get his show here, but you can stream the show at www.airamerica.com. Nancy would love to have more callers than she had last week (I guess Lionel doesn't get many callers and from what I've heard around here, a lot of people really don't like his show), so if you can, try to call in at 866-303-2270. She'd love to hear from you.

Last week Nancy had a variety of guests, including Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press to talk about the autos; gay activist Mike Rogers to talk about the Rick Warren situation; Stephanie Rammage (see this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=367x15741); Nancy's former sidekick at WLS, Ski Anderson; and others. I'm sure she'll have some more good ones on this week.

1. Lionel same time slot as Stephanie Miller in markets that get both.
Lionel doesn't hold a candle to Steph. Now Nancy: Yeah buddy! I think she is truly worthy of a national show. Since Randi was let go, the only really good regular hosts Air America has right now, IMHO, are Rachel and Thom Hartmann. Wonder what 1310 would do if Nancy got a show on Air America.

2. I was so happy Nancy was on last week and I didn't have to
listen to Frangela subbing for Stephie. I really don't like them. I think Stephie is back tomorrow, but given a choice between her and Nancy, I'll take Nancy -- especially since she's only on for three more days (for now, anyway). I've never heard Lionel's show, but I've only heard bad things about it.

I still listen to Randi -- I stream her on NovaM. I agree that Rachel and Thom are all they've got left that are any good (at least of those we get here in Detroit), so I'd love to see Nancy get her own show. As far as 1310, I guess it would depend on what time her show was on if she gets one. I'd much rather hear her in the morning than Bill Press and I'd much rather hear her than a rerun of Ed's show (and that would be a bad time because I'd have to choose between Nancy and Randi). I wonder how much longer Rachel is going to want to do radio now that she's got her TV show. I notice, too, that her radio show is often parts of the previous day's TV show. Maybe she's just staying on the air until her current contract expires, although I have no inside knowledge of that at all.

4. Frangela is more of a comedy club act thing.
They would be good on a comedy show card with Steve Harvey, ect. They never take callers; at least I have never heard them do so. One thing Harvey does is shake up the callers, which is funny as hell.

Steph's show is a slick production. They use some of the same old recorded schtick every day, but it is usually funny. I listen to Press on way to work, but surf and listen to Steve and NPR too. Screw the WRIF because Mike without Drew sucks. Also screw Paul W. NAZI!

Press is bland, but tolerable. I would rather have Nance back in that beloved drive time, with me doing my call in at around 8:50. Ceedee was a great producer for her.

I wish Schultz had a live time slot here, but he would have to replace Hartmann there, so that is a tough call. I listen to Hartmann when I go out to grab lunch carry-out.
