TAYLOR — Documentary filmmaker and author Michael Moore is set to speak about the hardships facing the working class when he’ll come to the Taylor Democratic Club on May 2.

The Michigan Peace Team is sponsoring the event, titled “An Evening with Michael Moore.” The event, set from 6 to 9 p.m., includes dinner.

Tickets are $50. For $100, audience members can also attend a cheese and wine reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

A silent auction and musical entertainment also will be part of the event, and news reporter Amy Lange of WJBK TV-2 will be the emcee.

The Michigan Peace Team hopes Moore’s speech will attract Downriver residents.

“He has a very provocative yet wonderful message,” said event co-chairwoman Elizabeth Walters. “We’re trying to spread our message of non-violence to new groups.”

The Michigan Peace Team contacted Moore, a Michigan native, after it decided to have an event.

“We knew that we wanted to have a large occasion, and we have past connections and friendships with Michael in an informal setting,” said Walters.
