Signing opportunity for St. Clair Shores Registered Voters
My co-captain and I will be collecting signatures from SCS registered voters only, today from 10:30-noon on Masonic between the Masonic Temple and Jefferson. Since we are not allowed to stay in one place, we plan to walk the block. We will have a sign that says Recall Governor Snyder. Masonic is north of 13 Mile and the Temple is about a block off of Jefferson. There is a 5K run/walk starting at noon, so we thought this might be a good opportunity to collect some signatures.

Note: if you plan to sign any petition, be sure to sign and print your name exactly as it appears on your voter registration card. Any other form of your name may be considered invalid, and one invalid signature spoils the entire sheet (real fair, huh?) Also, the online petitions are not valid, nor are any petition sheets that do not have the red serial number on the bottom.

2. That's what I thought the trainer said.
My co-captain thought she heard the same thing. We are going to double-check this week when we meet for another organizing meeting. It just doesn't seem right. I'm hoping I misunderstood.

3. I've been doing some research online and I'm beginning to think...
my co-captain and I may have misunderstood, although I haven't been able to find anything specific to Michigan law. I did find a reference in another state that indicated only that signature would not count. That seems more reasonable. Otherwise, like you suggested, it would be very easy to corrupt the whole collection.

If you, or anyone else finds out what the facts are, I'd really appreciate letting me know.

4. Michigan Election Law, section 958:
Edited on Sun May-29-11 06:56 PM by UrbScotty
"A petition is not invalid if it contains the signature of a person who is not a qualified and registered elector of the appropriate city, township, or village listed in the heading of that petition sheet."

7. Hey, I missed you!
By the way, there IS no Masonic Temple on Masonic.

There USED to be a Masonic Country Club at the end of the street
where the park is now....

:hi:

8. I know. I'm an idiot.
It occured to me as I was driving to the event what I had done. I did slap myself 5 times for the error, but probably not as hard as someone would have if they drove up and down Masonic looking for the Temple that is on 11.

How are you doing? Good to hear from you!
